Kevin Foster, the UK’s Minister for Immigration confirmed that Covid concessions on visa rules around the requirements to be in the UK to study will be extended to 6th April, 2022. The confirmation comes following news we reported earlier about the new graduate route being introduced by the government.
This news means that newly arriving international students will be able to start studying remotely if health and visa protocols require them to do so, though they will still be eligible for work rights upon graduating.
Foster underlined that the government would encourage students to consider 6th April as a deadline, ‘not a target for arrival.’
Students who started their courses in Autumn, 2020 or Spring, 2021 will be required to be in the UK by 27th September, as per the latest guidance.
